Welcome

"Funk Knuf is “2 % Jazz . . . and 98% Funky Stuff!!” (Maceo Parker)

FUNK KNUF (funk enough) is Colorado’s funk experience, playing fun and solid funk music with a horn section full of monster players!

Funk Knuf pays tribute to the best funk music from Brand New Heavies, to Liquid Soul, and Jaco Pastorious to Lettuce. You’ll hear Tower of Power, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Galactic, King Hector, some Greyboy All Stars, and much more!

The band is managed by Geno Treppeda on drums (from BiG BaNG!).  Lead vocals are provided by Beth Avedis, who's expansive vocal talents are only outshined by her amazing stage presence and magnetic personality. Their monster horn section includes John Battista on tenor sax, Dave McLoughlin on trumpet, and Doug Carmichael on alto, bari sax, and flute. The band’s rhythm section includes Rich Benge on guitar and Bill Capsalis on bass.

Funk Knuf plays corporate events, festivals, venues, private parties, and more. Pricing is negotiable depending on travel, back-line, sound, and other variables. We are happy to make you happy and are willing to work with different budgets.

"In Praise of Funk Knuf

Being a fan of funk music makes it easy to love Funk Knuf. I’ve watched the group change and grow over the years. Their current iteration is the most powerful yet. Seeing them in a small club in Louisville last spring was a wonderful wakeup from the COVID stupor. The rhythm section of Geno Treppeda (drums) and Bill Capsalis (bass) was both thunderous and intricate. The horn section, Johnny, Doug and Dave, will evoke memories of the original Tower of Power. Rich Benge on guitar is smoking hot. Their new lead singer, Beth Avedis, is a perfect foil to the other members with her powerful and soaring vocals. She gets the crowd moving and dancing. Get out and see all of their Front Range performances. It will make your ears and feet happy."
-David Perry, Local and World Wide Music Traveler

"I just have to say that this band exceeds all expectations on delivering a great Funk, R&B and blues sound that is 100% thorough bred dance music. Why...because they are all hot musicians . . . There are Few things that I love more in life than a bad ass horn section that owns the grooves and can solo like its pay day! And they have it. i Hype not. Come on down. Cool big bands are an endangered species in our age of digital streaming and we should support them and we’ll be the happier for it. Cheers!" - Suter Du Bose, President, Caffe Sole

"y'all absolutely blew me away! What a thrill to hear such consummate musicians right here at home. I had a huge grin on my face the whole time. You are a great band." - Clay Kirkland

"All I'm a say here is that FUNK KNUF is one of the tightest, bestest, most powerful "on it" bands I've heard in a long time ... not enough superlatives to truly describe how good they are from top to bottom, front to back and everything in between
If you've never listened or seen this band, do so as soon as you get a chance, I promise you will NOT be disappointed ... but be prepared to move n groove, because with THIS band you have no choice but to feel it
Get your groove on with FUNK KNUF"  Wolf Bytes

RENEE AUSTIN CD RELEASE SHOW 'Songbirds and Angels" The Toad Tavern, 5302 S Federal Cir, Littleton, CO 80123 Reneé Austin CD Release Show 'Songbirds and Angels"

Doors open at 7:30 pm Funk Knuf plays 8:30-9:30 pm Reneé Austin's Band plays 10:00-11:30 pm

Reneé Austin is an American soul, R&B, gospel, singer, songwriter, actor and speaker. She is a six-time Minnesota Music Award Winner including 'Female Vocalist of the Year'. Austin has a wide vocal range, and has opened for Los Lobos, Tower of Power, Delbert McClinton, Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Keb Mo and more. She released three albums between 1997 and 2005, and supplied backing vocals on Tommy Castro's 2005 album, Soul Shaker. Austin was also part of a group of women who performed in Morgan Freeman's PBS Blues Divas, as well as singing for a live WWE season premier, whose television audience was six million. Her singing voice has been compared by critics to those of Mavis Staples, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, Regina Belle, and also as a female version of Michael McDonald.

The Philadelphia Inquirer commented that she "embraces a deliciously wide range of roots styles: She swings nimbly on R&B, and fires off some rousing gospel. For good measure, she also shows she can take it uptown with a sultry, soulful ballad."

It was announced in 2005 that her career was finished as following thyroid surgery, she was left with a paralyzed vocal nerve that made speaking and further singing impossible. However, after years of inaction, her voice was miraculously restored. In 2015, Austin returned to performing. She now hos one of her most beautiful recordings to date selling better than ever in 2018..."Songbirds and Angels". DON'T MISS HER COLORADO RETURN!!!
